THE 'dreamtime' narratives of Australian aboriginals are being wrested into the 21st century with the ancient stories retold in new forms. Mark Rickards examines how aboriginal culture is being reinvigorated by its interpolation with American music in AUSTRALIAN RAP (RADIO 4, 11.30AM).

EVERY CHILD MATTERS (RADIO 4, 2.15PM) stars Sarah Lancashire (pictured) as Joanne, a social worker caught up in the scandal of a client who allowed her young daughter to be viewed dancing semi-naked on the internet. With the verdict imminent in the mother's trial, Joanne talks with an erstwhile colleague. What emerges brings everything into question about the case in a compelling drama.

TCHAIKOVSKY'S 5th Symphony builds from what the composer called 'complete resignation before fate' to ultimate transcendence, and was an inspiration to the Russian people in the war against Hitler. Hear it played by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in RADIO 3 LIVE IN CONCERT (7.30PM).
