Quarterdeck (NASDAQ: QDEK), today announced the appointment of a new European sales director to expand retail market share and to aggressively target the corporate sector. David Brown, who has joined Quarterdeck from the British software firm PCSL, has gained a great deal of pan-European sales experience through working for computer companies such as Specialix Plc, DCA / Pacific Data, British Olivetti and Nashua.
David Brown will head the Quarterdeck sales team, that will be expanded over the coming months. This expansion is parallelled by the company's intention to further establish its presence in the retail market, as well as make a drive into the SME/Corporate sector.
Looking forward to implementing these initiatives David Brown, new European sales director, comments; "There is an excellent opportunity for us to seize a significant share of the market for computer helpware in small to medium sized companies. This marketplace is still in its infancy, and none of our competitors have as yet, offered a complete suite of products. for this part of the corporate market, or dominated the space. With licensed and networked versions of some of our existing products such as CleanSweep, as well as with the new network utilities that we have in the pipeline, we have the technology to take a large segment of the SME market."
Commenting on the appointment of David Brown as European sales director, Andrew MacDonald, Quarterdeck's European managing director and vice-president comments; "The network market is full of opportunities, but there are also a large number of new avenues we will be creating in the retail consumer market. Quarterdeck will be looking to develop a number of OEM and VAR agreements over the coming months and has plans for a comprehensive reseller accreditation programme.
