ATKINS MAN SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- The following information was released by the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa:

A man who possessed computer images of child pornography was sentenced today to more than eight years in federal prison.

William Oddo, age 62, from Atkins, Iowa, received the prison term after an October 19, 2010, guilty plea to two counts of possession of child pornography.

In a plea agreement, Oddo admitted that, on November 2 and 3, 2009, he possessed computer images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Among the images were more than 10 videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The images included prepubescent minors engaged in sadistic sexual conduct, including bondage.

A special assessment of $200 was imposed. He must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release after the prison term. He must also register as a sex offender. There is no parole in the federal system.

Oddo is being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter Deegan and was investigated by the Cedar Rapid Police Department and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
